The decision to close the University is based on analysis of current conditions by the National 天气 Service, local weather outlets and information provided to University officials by city, county and state entities on road conditions. 此外,一个 assessment of on-campus conditions is provided to University administrators by campus police patrols and physical plant personnel.

Employee Information

The University has several employees and students commuting from outside Montgomery 县 where weather conditions can be drastically different. With this in mind, it is up to individuals to use their own judgment for commuting to campus when the weather may be hazardous in the area in which you reside. However, unless the campus officially closes, employees will be required to take appropriate leave if they decide to not report to work or leave early due to weather or dangerous conditions that may prohibit travel in the area in which they reside. Consult with your manager or contact Human Resources if you have questions.

National 天气 Service (NWS) Severe 天气 Products:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning

• Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are issued for storms which are producing or are expected to produce winds of 58 mph or more, hail 1 inch or greater diameter, or both. 这些 are issued for counties or portions of counties, and are typically an hour or less 的长度.

• Seek shelter indoors as soon as possible.

  • Seek shelter immediately.
  • Storm shelter doors will automatically unlock in Governors Terrace North and South, and Eriksson Residence Halls.
  • Move to the lowest floor of the building.
  • Stay away from windows and doors.
  • Stay there until the “All Clear” siren and notification are issued.
